Tale of the defeat of Orochi written in the Kojiki starts in Hi River, Izumo Province with the scene of the seventh of eight princesses being eaten by the great Eight-Headed
Serpent.
Having been expelled from Takamagahara (the Plain of High Heaven), Susanoo had run into Ashinazuchi, Tenazuchi, and
their last remaining daughter Princess Kushinada in Hi River.
After hearing the sequence of events thus far, Susanoo
resolved to defeat Orochi. A great battle unfolded, Orochi was vanquished, and Princess Kushinada and Susanoo were happily wedded.
